Well, I had a great time at Octocon this year. Friends and panels and all the good stuff. I missed book launches by my buddies, Derek Gunn and RFLong, but I managed to buy their latest and greatest easily enough.

Highlights this year were a reading by Guest of Honour, Mike Carey, from his first novel, The Devil You Know, and The Golden Blasters Award -- a sort of mini SF film festival, where no movie was longer than ten minutes. All of them were pretty enjoyable. The winner, the full seven minutes of it, is below.

And you brought the whole family -- can't be more enthusiastic than that!

Sounds fantastic! I was thinking about you yesterday as my housemate and I were stuck in traffic in the city centre. I'm glad to hear it went well. :)

Do you always think of me when stuck in traffic? What does that say?

No, I think of you more often when I'm looking at Georgian buildings than in traffic per se; it's that in this case the two came together!

I will forever think of you when I see Fire (or whatever the name of that restaurant is now), though!

Maybe it should change its name to "Boom" ;)

Hmmm... catchy! I like it.

So is Eat the Drink still your personal Vasa? I'm completely biased, but it sounds fantastically interesting, so I hope it makes it to print. :)

Great flick! I always regret not going to cons....Montreal being the most recent. Perhaps when Winter works itself out I won't have an excuse.

Oh, a WorldCon is something different again. You should have an opportunity soon.

Great film - thanks for posting!

And I'm so glad you had a fun time. We missed you, of course!

Oh, you'd have loved some of the others. I wish I could pronounce the Hungarian entry -- it was a real gem.

I certainly did, Danielle! Thanks for all your hard work along with the rest of them!

That was intense. I got kind of upset when it ended before I could see what was coming for him. Really good.

Yeah, me too, even knowing it would have ruined it :-)

Glad to hear that you had a good time, and that things went well.

Definitely hoping to see you at more conventions in the future, as long as our mutual schedules and funds allow for it.

Still disappointed for your sake about the dealer's room at Montreal....

Hope to see you too :-) maybe next year at Octocon. You never know with funds!
